 Job Shadow Day with Women's Network

What is it? Job Shadow is an academically motivating activity designed to give young high school w omen the unique opportunity of an up-close look at the world of work and provide answers to the commonly asked questions such as “Why do I have to learn this?” and "What does 'doing business' really mean?

Who has participated Before? Though Job Shadow has never been organized in Finland before, it is quite popular in the US. Participation is worthwhile and famous US politicians and business men set frequent examples for everyone. Previous Job Shadow participants have included President George H.W. Bush; former Secretary of State Colin Powell; former Governor Jesse Ventura and other governors, mayors and elected officials; former Miss America Angela Perez Baraquio; and Today Show anchors Matt Lauer, Al Roker, and Ann Curry

Who is organizing Job Shadow? Finland's first Job Shadow is a pilot partnership program between AmCham's Women's Network and JA-YE (Junior Achievement- Young Enterprise). Junior Achievement is the world’s largest organization dedicated to inspiring and preparing young people to succeed in a global economy.

Where do the Mentees come from? JA-YE is active in  schools K-12 all around Finland. They have done an open call for applicants from the pool of active young women who are already involved in their various young business and entrepreneur programs.

How can I get involved? Numerous leading ladies in the Women's Network community have already kindly volunteered their time for a day of mentoring to the next generation of Women Leaders.
